Kondo creates music that matches what happens on the screen. For Super Mario Bros., he wanted the music to feel like motion. He used dance styles like Latin music and the waltz. This makes the game feel like it is moving with the player. He also made the melodies short so they could repeat endlessly. This way, the music does not become boring during long play sessions. He also uses music to show players where they are. In Zelda, the music changes when you enter a dark dungeon.
