Issa's life was full of both joy and sadness. He married a woman named Kiku. They had children, but they also faced great loss. His daughter, Satoyo, died when she was very young. This loss inspired a famous poem about a dewdrop world. His wife Kiku also died when Issa was 61. In 1827, a big fire swept through Kashiwabara. The fire destroyed his house.
