It sits in central Switzerland. The bridge crosses the Reuss river. It is the oldest wooden covered bridge in Europe. It is also the oldest truss bridge still standing in the world. A truss bridge uses wooden parts to stay strong.

Nearby, a tall tower stands in the water. People call it the Wasserturm. This tower is older than the bridge. Long ago, it was used as a prison. Today, it has a small shop for visitors.

The bridge has many special paintings inside. These paintings show the history of the city. They were made in the 1600s. A big fire happened in 1993. The fire hurt the bridge and the art. Many paintings were lost in the flames. People worked hard to fix the bridge. They spent 3.4 million Swiss francs to help. Now, the bridge is a famous symbol for the city.
