It can take juice from fruits, herbs, and leafy greens. The machine works by crushing, grinding, or squeezing. This pulls the liquid out of the pulp. Unlike a blender, a juicer uses a mesh screen. This screen catches the solid bits to make the juice clear.

There are many kinds of juicers. A reamer is a tool for citrus fruits. You press a lemon or orange on a ridged center. This separates the juice from the rind.

A masticating juicer is also called a slow juicer. It uses an auger, which is a large screw, to crush food. It uses slow force instead of fast blades. Some machines even have parts to make pasta or nut butter. Large presses are used on farms. They can use 40 tonnes of force to press apples.
