He is best known for his long career at Apple Inc. There, he held very important roles like chief design officer. He helped create many products that people use every single day. His designs helped make Apple one of the biggest technology companies in the world.

Ive follows a special way of thinking called Bauhaus. This idea means you should only include what is truly needed in a design.

This helps make things look clean and simple. He works step by step to turn a new idea into a real object. For example, he led the work for the Apple Watch starting in 2012. This device became the best-selling wearable in the world. By 2022, about 115 million people were estimated to be wearing one. He wants technology to feel personal and easy for everyone to use.

His journey began in London, England. He was born there on February 27, 1967. His father was a silversmith and his grandfather was an engineer.

As a teenager, Ive loved cars, which inspired him to study design. He went to Newcastle Polytechnic to study industrial design. In 1988 and 1989, he won the RSA Student Design Award. This gave him money to travel to San Francisco in the United States. There, he met designers who would later help him at Apple. He later became a US citizen in 2012.

Ive joined Apple full-time in September 1992. He worked very closely with the company's co-founder, Steve Jobs.

Jobs called Ive his "spiritual partner" because they saw the world in the same way. They would look at objects and notice the exact same tiny details. Ive had a private office where only his small team of 15 people could go. This was to keep their new ideas and prototypes safe.
