He was a painter, a sculptor, and a maker of ceramics. Many people call his style Surrealism because it feels like a dream. He also used shapes that looked like a child might draw them. This helped him show thoughts from his deep mind. Miró wanted to shake up the old ways of making art. He even called his goal an "assassination of painting."

Miró had many different ways of creating his art. He sometimes used a method called automatism to let his ideas flow freely. This helped him make his famous dream paintings. He also liked to use collage, which is joining different materials together. Even when his work looked wild, he often used a careful plan. He would make many sketches before finishing a piece. This methodical way of working helped him create very special symbols.

His father was a goldsmith and a watchmaker. Miró started drawing classes when he was only seven years old. He later went to a fine art academy called La Llotja in 1907. In 1920, he moved to Paris to join a group of many artists. He always returned to Catalonia during the summer months to stay connected to his home.

His career was full of many famous works and big moments.

In 1924, he joined the Surrealist group of artists. He created a famous series of paintings called Constellations between 1940 and 1941. These works often featured birds, women, and the moon. He also worked on large tapestries with the artist Josep Royo. One large sculpture, called The Sun, the Moon and One Star, stands in Chicago. He lived to be 90 years old and died in 1983.

Miró's life and art are still very important to people today.
