Jinhua has a very long history that goes back many centuries. It started as a small county in the 2nd century BC. Later, during the Sui dynasty in AD 598, it was given the name Jinhua. The city walls you might see today date back to the Yuan dynasty in 1352. A famous person from this area was a holy man named Huang Chuping. He lived in the 4th century and was known as an immortal. People say Wuyang Shan mountain looks like a sheep turned to stone by him.

Today, many people live and work in Jinhua. The 2020 census showed a population of 7,050,683 people. The city is a major center for making things. Some areas focus on making clothes or building tools. Other parts make medicine, electronics, or even large buses.
