Rowling's journey to success involved many difficult steps. In 1990, she was working as a researcher for Amnesty International. While on a delayed train from Manchester to London, she imagined Harry Potter. She did not have a pen or paper at that moment. She had to hold the characters in her mind. This included Harry, Ron Weasley, and Hermione Granger. Later, she moved to Porto, Portugal, to teach English.
