Harry is an orphan who lives a very ordinary life at first. He has messy black hair and bright green eyes. He also has a special scar shaped like a lightning bolt on his forehead. This scar is a mark of what he has been through in his life. On his eleventh birthday, Harry discovers he is actually a wizard. He leaves his aunt and uncle to attend Hogwarts, a school for magic.

Life at Hogwarts is full of wonder and many new things to learn. Harry meets his best friends, Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger, at the school. He learns how to use a wand to perform magic. He even becomes a Seeker on the Gryffindor Quidditch team.

Harry must study many subjects like Transfiguration and Potions. He receives guidance from the headmaster, Albus Dumbledore. He also learns to use special spells like the Patronus charm. These tools help him navigate a world filled with magical creatures and secrets.

J. K. Rowling first thought of Harry in 1990. She was waiting for a train when the idea came to her.

She imagined him as a skinny boy with glasses who did not know about magic. The author decided to make him an orphan to give him more freedom. She also wanted him to seek the security that Hogwarts provides. The first book, titled Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, was released in 1997. This started a massive series that changed how people think about stories.

Many important events happen throughout the seven books. Harry learns that a dark wizard named Lord Voldemort killed his parents. Voldemort also tried to kill Harry, but the spell failed.

This struggle defines much of Harry's journey. In the fourth book, Harry shows great bravery by protecting his friend, Cedric Diggory. He faces many hard moments, including the loss of his godfather, Sirius Black. These events show that Harry is a hero who is both brave and selfless. He is a character who makes mistakes, but he always tries to do what is right.

Because people love Harry so much, he has become a global icon.

You can see his story in many different ways today. Daniel Radcliffe played Harry in all eight films. A new television series will also feature the character. Harry even appears in a stage play called Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. His adventures remind us about the importance of friendship and courage. Even though he is a wizard, his feelings are very real and relatable.
