He worked as a director, a writer, and an actor. He also taught others how to make films. People often called him a leading figure in the film industry of his time. He was known for making movies that people really loved to watch. Many of his films were shown on national television for a long time. These movies helped show a specific, happy way of life to the public.

Pyryev learned how to make movies by working in many different ways. He started by acting on stages directed by famous people like Sergei Eisenstein.

He also worked behind the camera on production jobs. In 1929, he made his first movie as a director called "Strange Woman." Later, he became famous for making musical comedies. These films often featured his wife, Marina Ladynina, as the main star. He worked hard to make these stories feel bright and musical.

His career grew through many years of hard work and many awards.

Pyryev won the Stalin Prize six different times between 1941 and 1951. He even served as the Director of the Mosfilm studios from 1954 to 1957. During the war, he made light movies even when the film industry had to move to Alma-Ata. One of his films, "Six O'Clock after the War is Over," was released in November 1944. This movie showed characters celebrating Victory Day together. He helped keep people happy during a very difficult time.

Many of his movies have specific names and interesting stories.

In "They Met in Moscow," a swineherd and a shepherd fall in love. This movie was the last one made before the German invasion. Another film, "Cossacks of the Kuban," showed a very fancy version of life on a farm. He also made a movie called "Ballad of Siberia" in 1947. These films used music and beautiful scenes to tell their stories. They were very popular throughout the country.

Later in his life, Pyryev changed his style to focus on books.

These are called adaptations because they turn stories from pages into films. He made a film called "The Idiot" in 1958. He also worked on a huge project called "The Brothers Karamazov." This movie was so good it was nominated for an Academy Award. Even though he died in Moscow in 1968, his work stayed famous. His films showed that people have a right to be happy.
