Ip Man was a famous Chinese martial arts master. He taught a style of fighting called Wing Chun. He started learning this art when he was nine years old. He studied under a teacher named Chan Wah-shun. Later, Ip Man moved to Hong Kong. Life was hard for him there. He worked in a restaurant to earn money.

In the 1950s, he began to teach Wing Chun to others. His first students were often young men looking to get stronger. Some students were from a group called the Restaurant Workers' Association. As he taught more people, his fame grew. He even helped start the Ving Tsun Athletic Association. This group helped him manage his school.

Ip Man had many talented students. His most famous student was the actor Bruce Lee. Other students became masters and started their own schools. These teachers helped spread Wing Chun all over the world. Many movies have been made about Ip Man's life. You can even see items from his life in the Ip Man Museum.
