It began in the mid-20th century. Before this, people used big machines in factories. Now, our world focuses on information technology.

This age started with a small part called a transistor. Scientists made it in 1947. This part helped make computers much better. In the 1960s, engineers made tiny chips. These chips let computers get smaller and faster. One big step was the first microprocessor. This was a single chip that could run a computer.

In the 1970s, home computers arrived. People used them for games and school. Companies like Apple became very famous.

Many people also started using the internet. In 1969, a message was sent over a network called ARPANET. Later, Tim Berners-Lee invented the World Wide Web in 1989. This made the internet easy for everyone to use. Today, we use digital tools for almost everything. Some people think a new age is starting now. This new age uses artificial intelligence to help us work.
