In Buddhism, people use the word anicca for this. They believe that all things are always changing. This includes our bodies and our minds. Because things change and go away, it can cause sadness. This is one of the three marks of existence in Buddhism.

Hinduism also teaches about impermanence. They use the word anitya. Many Hindus believe the material world changes. However, they believe the soul, or atman, stays the same. This idea helps people find a permanent truth.

In ancient Greece, a thinker named Heraclitus wrote about change. He said that everything flows. He famously said that no man steps in the same river twice.

Other Greek thinkers had different ideas. Plato did not agree with Heraclitus. He thought that if things change too fast, we cannot truly know them. These big ideas help us think about how the world works.
