The ichthys is a famous symbol for Christians.

It looks like a fish made from two curved lines. The word comes from an old Greek word for fish. The letters in the word also act as a code. They stand for "Jesus Christ, God's Son, Savior."

Many stories in the Bible use fish. Jesus had many followers who were fishermen. In one story, Jesus helped feed a large crowd with just five loaves and two fish. In another story, his followers caught 153 fish after following his advice.

Some people think early Christians used the fish as a secret sign. They may have used it to find each other during hard times. They might have marked meeting places or tombs with it. Today, the symbol is very common. You can see it on car stickers or as necklaces.
