Hustler is an American adult magazine published every month.

It was started by a man named Larry Flynt. The magazine is known for being very bold and explicit. It shows more graphic photos than other famous magazines like Playboy. This style of content is often called "lowbrow." This means it is not trying to be fancy or high art. People read it for very direct and adult themes. Today, about 500,000 people read the magazine each month.

The magazine has several regular parts that readers look for. One famous part is called "Hustler Honey." This is a large photo found in the middle of the magazine. Another part is a column called "Asshole of the Month." In this section, the magazine picks a public figure to criticize. They show a drawing of the person's head coming out of a cartoon donkey. There is also a comic strip called "Honey Hooker." This character appears in many different settings, from old times to modern locker rooms.

Larry Flynt started this business in the late 1960s. He and his brother, Jimmy Flynt, opened a store in Cincinnati in 1969. The magazine itself first appeared in July 1974. It began as a cheap way to advertise Larry's strip clubs. The business grew very quickly after that. By the early 1980s, the magazine had about 3 million readers. Larry and Jimmy worked together for a long time. However, Larry eventually fired his brother in 2009.

There are many different versions of the Hustler brand. A firm in Quebec publishes a Canadian version of the magazine. This version looks like the American one but adds Canadian stories. The brand is also used for other businesses. These include the Hustler Casino in Gardena, California. There are also Hustler Clubs and Hustler Hollywood stores. These stores sell adult movies, clothing, and magazines. One large flagship store used to be on Sunset Boulevard in West Hollywood. That building was torn down in 2016.

Some parts of the magazine have faced a lot of criticism. For example, a comic strip once featured a character named Chester the Molester. This character was criticized for showing bad behavior toward children. Later, the character changed to Chester the Protector. This new version was meant to protect young girls instead. The magazine also has a section called "Ads We'd Like to See." This section makes parodies of everyday products. Sometimes these parodies can be violent or use controversial people. This has also caused many people to criticize the magazine.
