Hasdrubal fought in a big war against Rome. He led a large group of men. This group had 8,000 soldiers and 21 war elephants. He fought against two Roman leaders named the Scipios. In one fight at the Ebro River, the Romans won. This loss made it hard for Hasdrubal to keep control. He also had to fight local tribes that rebelled.

Later, Hasdrubal won a big fight at the Upper Baetis. This victory helped him take more land. But the Romans were still strong. They took a city called Carthago Nova. Hasdrubal lost a battle at Baecula. He had to leave Spain to help his brother, Hannibal.

In the year 207 BC, Hasdrubal marched through the Alps. These are very high mountains. He brought war elephants with him. He wanted to join Hannibal in Italy. But the Romans stopped him. Hasdrubal lost a final battle at the Metaurus. This meant he could not help his brother. His defeat changed the war forever.
