A dry wind blows from the Sahara desert. This wind picks up tiny bits of dust and sand. The dust makes the air look gray. This is called a Harmattan haze. The haze can act like a heavy fog. It can even block the sun for days. This makes it hard for planes to fly.

The air feels very dry. This is because the humidity drops. Humidity is how much water is in the air. The dry air can make lips and skin feel chapped. It can also make eyes feel dry. Some people may even get nosebleeds. The weather changes a lot during this time. It can be cold at night. But it can be very hot during the day. This wind can also cause dust storms. It can even cause tornadoes when it meets other winds.
