As a young man, he worked at a grand hotel in London. He saw rich guests with very nice things. This gave him many new ideas. He later worked with leather to learn his craft. In 1921, he started his own shop in Florence. He made bags and items for people who rode horses.

Sometimes, it was hard to find leather. In the 1930s, leather became hard to get in Italy. Guccio solved this by using a fabric made from hemp. Later, his shop made a famous bag with bamboo handles. This was a way to use what was available.

Guccio's sons joined the business to help him. His eldest son was named Aldo. Aldo helped make new items, like bags made from pigskin. After Guccio died in 1953, his sons grew the brand. They opened stores in other countries. Today, you can visit the Gucci Museum in Florence. It tells the history of the family and their work.
