This river has water all year round. In dry times, people use water from the Orange River to help it flow. Many plants and animals live here. You might see a vervet monkey. There are also many birds, like the fish eagle. Some trees, like the milkwood, are protected.

People do many fun things at the river. Some go canoeing in a big race. Others like to go diving. Divers can see old shipwrecks under the water. A lighthouse called Great Fish Point sits near the mouth of the river. It helps ships stay safe near the coast.
