In 1883, they made a special engine. They called it "Daimler's Dream." It used liquid fuel to run. This engine was light and small. It could run at 750 rpm. This means it could spin 750 times every minute.

In 1885, they made a new engine. It had a vertical cylinder. Daimler called it the "grandfather clock" engine.

He gave it this name because it looked like a large clock. They put this engine into a two-wheeled vehicle. This was the first motorcycle. They called it the Reitwagen.
