He makes art from old weapons. These tools were used during a long civil war. This war lasted almost twenty years. Many people died during that time. Mabunda lost his own family in the war.

He works with a group called the Christian Council of Mozambique. They collect weapons from people. They call their project Transforming Guns into Hopes. Mabunda takes these metal parts and makes new things. He makes masks and large seats called thrones. He also makes figures that look like people.

His art shows how to turn death into life. He uses parts like pistols and rockets. He uses these to make art instead of fighting. This shows that we can stop war. His work has been shown in many big museums. It has been shown in Paris and New York. Even Bill Clinton asked him to make trophies. Mabunda wants to help people find peace. He uses his skill to show a better way.
