He was born in 1956. His father was a blacksmith. His mother was a farmer. Samba moved to the city of Kinshasa when he was sixteen. There, he worked as a sign painter. He also drew stories for a magazine.

Samba has a very special way of making art. He paints on pieces of sacking cloth. He uses bright colors to grab your eye. He also adds words to his paintings. He uses "word bubbles" from comic books. These words are in French and Lingala. They tell stories about life in Africa. His art shows real things like poverty or chaos. But he also uses humor to help people look.

His work is known all over the world. Many big museums keep his art. You can find his work in Paris and New York. He was even invited to the Venice Biennale. This is a very large art show. Samba often paints himself in the middle of his work. He wants to help people think about their own lives.
