Since 2001, she has remained one of the highest-paid models globally. Her career impact was so significant that Vogue credited her with ending the "heroin chic" era of modeling in 1999. This era was a specific style of fashion that she helped move away from. In 2012, she earned the top spot on the Forbes list of top-earning models. Her success has made her a major figure in both the fashion and business worlds.

Bündchen changed the way models move on the runway. She is credited with pioneering and popularizing the "horse walk." This is a specific stomping movement where a model lifts her knees high and kicks her feet to step. This technique added a new energy to fashion shows. Beyond the runway, she has achieved massive success in media. She has appeared on more than 1,200 magazine covers throughout her career. She also transitioned into acting, appearing in films like the 2004 remake of Taxi and the 2006 film The Devil Wears Prada.

Her professional life includes several distinct stages and major roles. From 1999 to 2006, she served as a Victoria's Secret Angel. During this time, she wore the Red Hot Fantasy Bra, which was valued at $15 million. This item was listed in the Guinness World Records as the most expensive lingerie ever created. In 2005, she wore the Sexy Splendor Fantasy Bra, worth $12.5 million. She also became a major face for various luxury brands. For example, she was the face of Dolce & Gabbana's "The One" fragrance from 2006 to 2009. She has also worked extensively with brands like Chanel, Dior, and Versace.

Bündchen's journey began in Horizontina, Brazil, where she was born on 20 July 1980.

She is a sixth-generation German Brazilian. Her father, Valdir Bündchen, was a university professor, and her mother, Vânia Nonnenmacher, was a banker. Although her family is Catholic and her parents speak German, Bündchen now speaks Portuguese, English, Italian, Spanish, and French. She originally aspired to be a volleyball player. However, in 1993, her mother enrolled her in a modeling course to improve her confidence and posture. She was discovered by Elite Model Management at a shopping center during a trip to several Brazilian cities.

Her career is marked by incredible numbers and commercial success. In 2010, her flip-flop line for Ipanema sold over 250 million pairs. This generated an estimated $197 million in sales. In 2013, her Ipanema sandals sold about 25 million pairs annually. These sales accounted for more than 60 percent of the manufacturer Grendene's annual exports, which were worth about $250 million. Her business influence is also seen in her endorsements. For instance, after she began representing Pantene shampoo, sales in Latin America increased by 40 percent in early 2010. She also signed a Pantene ambassadorship worth $4 million per year in 2013.

Bündchen has used her platform to engage in significant environmental and social work.

In 2016, she appeared in the documentary series Years of Living Dangerously in an episode called "Fueling the Fire." Her charitable efforts include supporting organizations like Save the Children, the Red Cross, and Doctors Without Borders. These roles show her commitment to global issues beyond the fashion industry.

Her legacy connects fashion, business, and global activism. She has been recognized by Forbes as one of the most powerful women in the world and a top celebrity. In 2016, she participated in the opening ceremony of the Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro.
