Reve had a very unique way of writing. He mixed formal language with everyday speech. His style felt like a mix of an old Bible and a normal conversation. This created a funny and strange feeling in his books. He often used irony to show the difference between serious faith and common sense. One of his big themes was finding meaning in a material world. He believed human love was sometimes not enough. He looked for a higher kind of love from God. He even called his own style "Revism." This involved treating human acts as special rituals.
