She could become a different person for every role she played. Her talent made her a star in many different places. She was respected by many people in the acting world.

Page worked very hard to learn her craft.

She studied acting at the Goodman School of Drama in Chicago. Later, she studied in New York City with teachers named Uta Hagen and Lee Strasberg. To pay her way, she worked many odd jobs. She worked as a hat-check girl and a theater usher. She even worked as a factory laborer. These jobs helped her support herself while she practiced her acting.

Her career had some very difficult times. During a period called McCarthyism, Page was blacklisted in Hollywood. This happened because of her connection to her teacher, Uta Hagen. Because of the blacklist, she could not work in movies for eight years. Even so, she did not give up on her dream. She continued to act on Broadway and in theater groups. She stayed busy performing in plays even when movies were not an option.
