George Fitzhugh was a man from Virginia.

He worked as a lawyer. He also wrote books about society.

George had ideas that many people found wrong. He wrote that slavery was a good thing. He thought it protected people. He believed it was better than the way life worked in the North. In the North, he saw rich people and poor people fighting. He thought slavery would make people safe and steady.

George wrote a book called Sociology for the South. He also wrote a book called Cannibals All! He wanted to expand slavery. He even said it should include white workers. This made his ideas very different from other leaders.

Many people were angry at his views. Abraham Lincoln was very angry with him. George spent much of his time reading in a large house. He lived a quiet life there. After the Civil War, he worked in a government office. He moved to Texas later in life. He died there in 1881.
