Earth is split into five main zones. These zones change based on the weather.

The lines that divide them are called circles of latitude.

The middle zone is the Torrid Zone. People also call it the tropics. It is the largest zone. The sun passes directly overhead here. This makes the land very hot. This zone includes places like Mexico and much of Africa. It also includes parts of India and Australia.

Two temperate zones sit above and below the tropics. These areas have mild weather. They are neither too hot nor too cold. In these zones, you can see four seasons. These are spring, summer, autumn, and winter.

The two frigid zones are at the top and bottom. They are the coldest parts of Earth. They are often covered in ice and snow. The sun stays very low in the sky here. In the center of these zones, the sun may not set for months.
