Gameplay is how a person plays a game. It is the link between the player and the game. This word works for video games and board games.

It is not the same as the art or the sound. Instead, it is about following rules to face challenges.

Rules help define the game. One set of rules says what you can do. Another set tells you the goal. You can even have rules for how to change the game. Some people play together on a team. This is called cooperative gameplay. Other games may have different ways to play.

Experts study how good a game is to play. They call this playability. It looks at how easy or long a game can be played. They check if a game makes you feel joy. They also look at how well you learn the game. Good playability helps make a game better for everyone. It can help with things like learning and social fun.
