In a standard game show, players win prizes during a single episode. They do this by completing specific tasks. This is different from reality competition shows. In reality shows, people often use voting or judging to pick a winner. For example, shows like American Idol use voting. However, game shows rely on objective tasks to decide the winner. Some shows, like the trivia show Jeopardy!, are special. In that show, contestants can keep playing for as long as they continue to win.
