There are a few steps in this process. First, all people must leave the area. Next, a worker lets the gas into the space. The space must be sealed tight. This might mean using a large tent. This is called tent fumigation. The tent keeps the gas from escaping.

The gas stays in the space for a set time. This lets the gas reach every corner. Finally, the area is ventilated. This means fresh air is let in to push the gas out. Once the gas is gone, the space is safe. People can go back inside.
