Most discs are made of plastic. They have a special shape. This shape helps them glide through the air. When you spin a disc, it stays steady. This helps you aim well and throw far.

People use many types of discs. Ultimate discs are for a game called Ultimate. They are strong and easy to catch. Disc golf discs are different. They are denser and have sharp edges. This helps them cut through the wind. Players throw them at targets called pole holes.

You can even play with a dog! Disc dog sports use soft discs. These are safe for a dog to bite.

Flying discs have a long history. In 1937, Walter Morrison and his wife tossed a popcorn lid. This was the start of a big idea. Later, a man named Ed Headrick helped make discs better. He is called the father of Frisbee sports. He even helped start disc golf. He was very important to the game.
