Frank Wilczek is a famous physicist. He studies how the universe works. He looks at the smallest parts of matter.

In 1973, he made a big discovery. He found something called asymptotic freedom. This describes how quarks act. Quarks are tiny bits that make up an atom. When quarks are very close, they act free. The force between them becomes very weak. But they pull harder as they move apart. This discovery helped us understand the strong interaction. This is the force that holds atoms together. For this work, he won the Nobel Prize in 2004.

Wilczek also thinks about other tiny things. He helped name a particle called the axion. This is a possible part of dark matter. He also came up with the idea of anyons. These are special particles found in two-dimensional systems. In 2012, he proposed the idea of time crystals.

He loves science and art. He has written books about physics and music. He also thinks the universe is like a work of art. He teaches at a school called MIT. He also works to keep humans safe from risks from AI.
