President Woodrow Wilson had a plan to end World War I.

He called this plan the Fourteen Points. He shared these ideas in a speech to Congress in 1918.

Wilson wanted a peace that was fair and lasting. He did not want a simple end to the fighting. He wanted to change how countries acted. His plan included ideas like free trade and democracy. He also wanted people to have the right to rule themselves.

To help him, Wilson used a group called the Inquiry. This was a team of 150 experts. They studied many parts of the world. They made 1,200 maps and 2,000 reports.

Wilson also wanted to protect small groups of people. This was a response to unfair treatment in places like Armenia. He hoped his ideas would stop future wars. Some leaders in Europe were not sure about his plan. But Wilson believed his ideas would build a better world.
