An American writer named Isaac Asimov wrote them. He first shared these stories in magazines. Later, he put them into books.

The stories take place in the far future. A big empire rules the Milky Way galaxy. A smart man named Hari Seldon uses math to study people. He calls this new math psychohistory. This math helps him see the future of large groups. Seldon sees that the empire will fall. This fall will lead to a dark age. It might last 30,000 years!

Seldon makes a plan to help. He wants to make the dark age much shorter. He hopes a new empire will rise in only 1,000 years. His plan helps guide the way through big changes.

Asimov wrote many books in this series. He wrote the original trilogy. He also wrote sequels and prequels later. These books link together many different stories. Some stories even include robots. The series won a big award called the Hugo Award. Many people say these books changed how they think about history and math.
