Firozabad is a busy city located in north central India. It sits within the state of Uttar Pradesh. The city is near the famous city of Agra. To the south, the Yamuna river flows in a winding path. The land around the city is mostly a flat plain. However, the area near the river is more rugged with many deep ravines.

This city is very famous for making glass. It is the largest center for glassmaking in all of India. About 70% of the country's unorganised glass production happens here. Many people work in these factories. In fact, over half of the people in the city work in the glass industry. This includes about 100,000 people who only make bangles. These are colorful rings worn on the wrist.

Firozabad has a very long and interesting history. Long ago, the area was part of the Surasena Mahajanapada. Many different groups ruled the land over many centuries. This included the Mauryas and the Guptas. Before the modern city existed, there was a place called Chandwar. The modern city was founded around the year 1566. It was built after the emperor Akbar sent a man named Firoz Khwaja to build a new town.

There are many important facts about the city today. The population of the city is about 603,797 people. Most of these people are men, making up 53% of the total. The literacy rate is 75.01%, which is a bit higher than the national average. Firozabad makes many different glass items. These include vases, lamps, and even glass for cars. Some of these items are even sent to other countries far away.

Traveling to Firozabad is quite easy because it is well connected. A main railway line passes through the south side of the city. Many trains connect it to big places like New Delhi and Mumbai. You can also reach the city by using the Yamuna Expressway. Inside the city, people often use rickshaws and three-wheelers to get around. While the city is a center for industry, it faces hard jobs too. The factories can make the local water dirty, so people must use purifiers to stay safe.
