arts Maturity 11-13 Next article →

A film producer helps make movies. They do many big jobs. They start by finding great stories. They pick the script, which is the written story. Then, they hire the director. They also hire the actors and the crew.

Producers manage the business side of a film. They must keep the work on time. They also must stay within a budget. This means they do not spend too much money. They work hard to keep the project moving. Sometimes, they face big obstacles. They need lots of energy and passion to finish.

Making a feature film takes a long time. It can take at least two years. One year is for planning. One year is for selling the film. There are also months for filming.

Even after filming ends, the work continues. This part is called post-production. A producer might ask for new scenes. They might even ask for a new ending. They also help with marketing. This helps people find and see the movie. Some producers work in big teams. An executive producer manages the money and the whole project. A line producer handles the day-to-day work on set.
