This means they use two legs only when they need to.

Primates use this in many ways. Chimpanzees walk on two legs to carry food. This helps them carry more than twice as much.

They can even gallop on two legs!

Lizards also use two legs. When a lizard runs very fast, its body shifts. This shift lifts its front legs off the ground.

This helps them speed up.

Even dinosaurs could do this. Some dinosaurs used two legs to be quick. This helped them compete with larger animals. Some animals use different ways to move on two legs. They might walk, run, skip, or gallop. Each way uses different steps to move the body forward.
