She was born in Germany in 1936. Her life had many hard parts. She had to leave Germany as a small child. Later, her mother died when Eva was ten. These things were very difficult for her.

Eva became a great artist in New York. She used strange materials for her art. She used latex, which is a type of soft rubber. She also used fiberglass and plastic.

She liked how these things felt. She did not use them in normal ways. She would brush latex on like paint. This made surfaces that were smooth but also bumpy.

Her art often used many similar shapes. She would group them in grids or piles.

Some people say her work looks like living things. It can look like skin or parts of nature. Some of her art is hard to keep. The soft materials change as they get old. Some pieces even crumble away. Eva believed that life and art do not last forever.
