In the 1920s, he lived in Berlin. He made many drawings and paintings. He used pen and ink to show city life. His art often showed people in the streets. He used a style called caricature. This means he drew people in a funny or exaggerated way. He wanted to show the truth about society. He was part of groups like Berlin Dada. This was a group of artists who made bold work.

In 1933, Grosz moved to the United States. He lived in New York for many years. He taught art at the Art Students League. In America, he changed his style. He stopped making funny drawings of cities. Instead, he painted landscapes and people.
