Many people call them the "Beatles of the Philippines." This is because they changed how music sounded in their country. The band is made of four members: Ely Buendia, Marcus Adoro, Buddy Zabala, and Raimund Marasigan. They are known for being very successful and influential. Their music helped start a new wave of rock bands in the 1990s.

The story of the band began at the University of the Philippines Diliman in 1989. The members met while they were students in Quezon City. Ely Buendia posted a notice on a school message board to find new musicians. Only Raimund, Buddy, and Marcus showed up to the audition. They chose the name Eraserheads after a 1977 film by David Lynch.

Early on, they recorded a demo tape in a garage. At first, record labels told them their music was not pop enough. A professor named Robin Rivera helped them record better versions of their songs. They even named their new demo "Pop-U!" to respond to those rejections.

In the 1990s, the band became stars. They released their first album, Ultraelectromagneticpop!, in 1993. It was a huge success and sold 300,000 copies that year. Their second album was called Circus, which was released in 1994. It became so popular that it reached quintuple platinum status. In 1995, they released Cutterpillow, which was their fastest-selling record. It earned double platinum after only one week of sales.

The band also tried many different musical styles. They made a Christmas album called Fruitcake in 1996. Later, they experimented with electronic music and art rock. They used different instruments and guitar effects on albums like Sticker Happy. In 1997, they won the MTV Asia Viewers Choice Award in New York City. This was a big deal because they were the only Philippine artist to win it then. They even toured in places like Singapore, the United States, and Japan.

Everything changed in 2002 when Ely Buendia left the group. He sent a message saying it was "graduation time." The other members tried to continue with new singers, but the Eraserheads ended. The members all went on to have successful solo careers. In 2008, the original four members reunited for big concerts. They have since made special appearances in the Philippines and in other countries.
