Electronic engineering

technology Maturity 9-11 Next article →

Electronic engineering is a way to study and use electricity. It is a part of electrical engineering. Engineers use special parts to control how power flows. These parts are called semiconductors. They can make small signals much bigger. This is called amplification.

This field began in the early 1900s. People used vacuum tubes to help signals grow. Later, scientists made a new part called a transistor. This helped electronics grow very fast. Today, engineers work on many things. Some build computers. Others work on robots or phones.

One job is signal processing. This is the way engineers study signals. Signals can be analog. These signals change in a smooth way. They can also be digital. These signals use set values to share data.

Engineers also study telecommunications. This is how we send information. We can send it through wires or through the air. Some engineers even work on planes. They make the tools that help planes fly. This is a very big and busy field!
