Some people have ideas about how humans change. They call this idea dysgenics. This idea says that good traits might fade away. This might happen if certain people do not have babies.

In 1915, David Starr Jordan used this term. He thought war might hurt groups of people. He believed war killed healthy men. He thought it left disabled people at home. This was a big concern for some in the 1900s.

Later, a man named Richard Lynn shared these ideas. He wrote a book in 1996. He thought that new ways of living changed things. He thought fewer babies died after the Industrial Revolution. He believed this let bad traits spread.

But these ideas are not backed by facts. Genetic studies show no proof of these changes. People do not actually get less healthy or smart. A scholar named John R. Wilmoth looked at these claims. He noted that average intelligence has not dropped. The bad things people feared did not happen. Our human traits stay strong through these changes.
