They are most famous for making unmanned aerial vehicles, which are often called drones. These flying machines allow people to take photos and videos from high in the sky. As of June 2024, DJI held over 90% of the global market for consumer drones.

Their technology is used in many different ways every day. You might see their cameras in movies, on television shows, or even in music videos. They also make camera systems, stabilizers, and parts that help machines fly or move.

Many DJI products work by using special parts to stay steady and smart. For example, the Spark drone uses a 2-axis gimbal to keep its camera still. A gimbal is a tool that helps a camera stay level even if the drone moves.

The Spark also has an infrared 3D camera to help it see obstacles. This helps the drone avoid hitting things while it flies. Some drones, like the Mavic 4 Pro, can even see in all directions to stay safe.

These smart systems make flying much easier for everyone.

The story of DJI began in 2006 with a man named Frank Wang.

He was a student at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. Wang built his very first models inside his college dorm room. He sold parts to universities and electric companies to earn money. Eventually, he moved to the industrial city of Shenzhen to hire a staff. In 2013, the company released the Phantom, which was their first fully assembled drone. The Phantom was very successful because it was easy for regular people to use.

DJI has grown into a massive business with many different types of tools. In 2015, they released the Phantom 3, which could stream live video. They also started the RoboMaster Robotics Competition for college students in 2015.

Some drones are built for hard jobs, like the Matrice series for firefighting. Other drones, called Spreading Wings, are used for mapping and search and rescue.

Even during the Coronavirus, drones were used to monitor temperatures and help keep people safe. Today, the company has about 14,000 employees and 17 offices around the world.

You can see how DJI's work connects to many parts of our lives. Their drones help farmers look at crops and help police keep cities safe.

They even make things you might use at home, like electric bike motors. In 2025, they introduced a robot vacuum cleaner named the Romo.

While most people know them for flying, they are really a company about making smart machines. Whether it is a tiny Neo drone or a large industrial machine, they focus on high-tech movement.
