Determiner

language culture Maturity 7-9 Next article →

Some words help us talk about things. They go before a name. These words are called determiners.

They can show what is yours. You might say "my" book. They can show how many things exist. You might say "many" books.

Some words tell us which thing is close. You can say "this" or "that." Other words ask a question. You can ask, "Which team won?"

Not all ways of talking use these words. In some lands, people add bits to the end of a word. This helps them mean the same thing.

These small words help us be very clear.
