Plato wrote about the demiurge in a book called Timaeus. He said the demiurge is a kind maker. This maker wants the world to be as good as possible. He shaped the stars and the planets. He even made lower gods to help. These gods helped make humans too.

Other groups had different ideas. Gnostics were people with many different beliefs. Some Gnostics saw the demiurge as a bad ruler. They thought he was mean to spirits. Other Gnostics thought he was just not very smart. They thought he made mistakes because he did not know better.

One famous name for this maker is Yaldabaoth. Some stories say he has a lion face. He might also have a body like a snake.

People have many views on this figure. Some think he is a helper. Others think he is a ruler who is far from the highest god. These ideas help us see how people wonder about the start of everything.
