Damien Hirst is a famous artist from England.

He is part of a group called the Young British Artists. These artists were very popular in the 1990s. Hirst makes art that often deals with death. He is well known for putting animals in clear tanks. He uses formaldehyde, a special liquid, to keep them. One famous piece shows a tiger shark in a tank.

He also made a sculpture of a cow and a calf. The animals were cut into parts and put in tanks. Hirst once made a pattern for a probe on Mars. This helped the probe's cameras work well. He is also a very successful businessman. In 2008, he sold a whole show at an auction. This auction raised 111 million pounds.

He is one of the richest living artists today. Some people have argued about his work. They claimed he used ideas from others. One time, he had to settle a legal case about a sculpture. He still makes art that makes people think and wonder.
