They use music to share their identity and culture. Many people call them a "quintessential Palestinian resistance band." This means their songs represent the spirit of Palestinian struggle. They speak about hard topics like inequality and the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. The group also looks at problems within their own society. They sing about things like drug dealing and violence in mixed cities. Their music is a way for young people to express their feelings. It gives them a platform to be heard by the world.

Making their music is a special way of blending different sounds. They take Western hip-hop and mix it with traditional Palestinian music. Sometimes they use old poetry or traditional songs in their rap. The members rap in Arabic, English, and Hebrew. This helps them reach many different kinds of listeners. In the early days, they did not have big studios. They started by recording songs on a home computer. They often used famous hip-hop beats to make their first tracks. This helped them build their unique style from the ground up.

The group began in 1999 in the city of Lod. Three friends started the band: Tamer Nafar, Suhell Nafar, and Mahmoud Jreri. Tamer Nafar began his music career even earlier, in 1998. He worked with a Jewish-Israeli rapper named Subliminal at that time. After a sad event in 2000 involving a friend, Tamer began writing protest songs. This changed the focus of their music toward politics. The group grew over time and added singer Maysa Daw in 2015. They have since become one of the most well-known Palestinian hip-hop groups.

DAM has a very busy history of making music. They have released more than 100 singles. They also have three full albums. These are named Dedication, Dabke on the Moon, and Ben Haana Wa Maana. They also made a shorter collection of songs called Street Poetry. In 2001, their song "Who is the terrorist?" was a huge hit. It was downloaded more than a million times. In 2017, they signed with a record label in London called Cooking Vinyl. They have performed at many big events, like the Sundance Film Festival.

You can think of DAM as a musical bridge. Tamer Nafar once said that hip-hop can act as a bridge between people. They use their fame to raise awareness for the Palestinian cause. They often work with activist groups to spread their message. Their music connects the sounds of modern rap with the history of their people. By using different languages, they connect different cultures together. They show how music can be used to talk about the world. Even when topics are difficult, their music keeps their story alive.
