The islands are a famous place for pearls. People have found pearls here since Roman times. Today, many people visit to go scuba diving. They can see coral reefs and many sea animals. You might see sharks, turtles, or dolphins in the water.

Many birds live here too. This includes white-eyed gulls and sooty falcons.

History has changed these islands many times. Long ago, sultans ruled the islands. Later, the Ottoman Turks and the Italians took control. In the past, the islands were also used as a prison. Now, the people who live there speak Dahlik. They lead a traditional life. They fish, herd sheep, and raise camels.
