Cybernetics is the study of how things work in loops.

In these loops, the result of an action comes back to change the next action. This is called feedback. The name comes from an old Greek word for steering a ship. A person steering a ship must watch the waves and wind. They move the rudder to stay on a steady course. This is a feedback loop because the ship's movement tells the person how to steer next.

Scientists use cybernetics to study many different things. They look at machines and living things. They also study how people act in groups or how nature works.

Early experts like Norbert Wiener helped start this field.

He said cybernetics is about how animals and machines use control and communication. In the 1960s, the study grew to include social ideas. Some people even used it to plan how a country's economy works.

Today, cybernetics is still very important. It helps us understand new tools like artificial intelligence. It also helps us see how people and technology live together.
