A cyborg is a living being with machine parts.

The word comes from two words: cybernetic and organism. Two scientists named Manfred Clynes and Nathan S. Kline made the name in 1960.

A cyborg uses technology to fix or improve its body. These parts use feedback. Feedback means the machine listens to the body and reacts. For example, a pacemaker helps a heart keep beating. It measures the body and sends tiny electrical signals.

This helps keep the person alive.

Some people use cochlear implants to help them hear. Other tools can help people see or walk. Some machines are even built into the skeleton. These are called osseointegration.

These parts help a person move more like they used to.

Scientists even make cyborg tissues in labs. They mix tiny cells with carbon nanotubes. These are very small tubes made of carbon. This mix can sense heat. It can also be used to make new electronics.
